I called into Market Lane on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork during Christmas and saw they had a Coeliac Menu. My son wasn’t with me but the waitress was very happy to go through the menu with me. She also asked me to email the restaurant at any time and they would email me the most up to date menu. We decided to eat there in January and again another waitress was very helpful and assured us that sauces are made with cornflour for all sauces and they take cross-contamination very seriously. She told us chips were off-limits unfortunately due to breaded items being cooked in the oil in the fryers. I was thrilled she said that!!! Usually, restaurants are so unaware of cross-contamination in fryers. My son had a lovely GF shepherd’s pie which he devoured! We all enjoyed our meal and Sam loved being able to eat with all of us.
I wish more restaurants were more aware of Coeliac diets and cross-contamination!
Sam also has type 1 diabetes diagnosed at less than 48 hours old.
Thanks, Very proud Mum, Farrah
