Awareness Month 2026

View Schedule
Register For Free

This May, the Coeliac Society of Ireland is launching its annual Coeliac Awareness Month to shed light on the often misunderstood autoimmune disease, coeliac disease. With a staggering 78,000 children and adults in Ireland remaining undiagnosed, the Society asks you to #RuleItOut – make sure that you’re testing for Coeliac Disease whenever symptoms show up, even if they’re not the expected ones!

Throughout the month of May, the Coeliac Society of Ireland will focus on various aspects of coeliac disease, aiming to educate the public and healthcare professionals alike.

How you can get involved!

For Coeliac Awareness month, we are running a series of informative pre-recorded talks and webinars, as well as  an open day in our Clondalkin shop front on May 1st.

If you would like to get involved in a fundraising capacity, check out the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon. You can get a registration pack and a t-shirt by emailing us at info@coeliac.ie.

To be kept up to date on our fundraising initiatives, fill out the registration form here to be added to the mailing list.

#RuleItOut

This year our campaign focus is asking everyone to make sure they are ruling out Coeliac Disease.

We’ll be reaching out to GPs and Consultants, as well as highlighting all Coeliac Disease symptoms – not just the classical gastrointestinal ones.

How Can I Help?

We’re looking for people to share their diagnosis stories – particularly ones that are different from the “classical” diagnosis. Coeliac Disease is thought to go hand in hand with stomach pain, but only about 30% of Coeliacs first present with gastrointestinal symptoms. Symptoms like migraines, brain fog, mouth ulcers, rashes, and fertility issues are just as common, but often don’t lead to testing.

Share your story with #RuleItOut to encourage patients and doctors alike to test for Coeliac Disease with their first round of blood tests, and we’ll reshare every #RuleItOut post we’re tagged in.
